God,
El-o-Heem, is the
plural name of the
infinite,
incomprehensible,
and
Eternal
Being, the Creator
of all

El-o Heem
preserves ,
governs, and
guides everything
by
Almighty Power
and Divine Wisdom.

revealed in the
Hebrew bible is an
integration of
several different
cultural
traditions in the
ancient Middle
East. As the
tribes of Israel
established
themselves as a
distinct culture
among the peoples
of Canaan,
differing images
of God were
eventually
integrated into
the oral and
written traditions
that shaped
the Old Testament.
The Hebrew texts
often refer to God
by the Canaanite
term Elohim
(el-o-HEEM).
It is based on the
ancient Semitic
root ‘el’ (ale)
meaning ‘strong
one.’
This word was
often used as a
generic term for a
god since the rise
of civilization in
Mesopotamia. It
was also the
proper name of the
Canaanite high god
El, the father
of humanity and
all creatures. He
was the father of
all the other gods

in the Canaanite
pantheon and was
the husband of
Asherah, the
mother goddess.
In
our English
Bibles, both El
and Elohim are
translated as
‘God.’ (It is
interesting
to note that Jesus
would have used
the related
Aramaic term alaha
(ahl-ah-HAH)
to speak of God.
The Arabic Allah
derives from the
same Semitic
root.)
As the cultures
mixed in the land
of Canaan, the
Hebrew people
overlaid the Sinai
tradition of a
tribal god named
Yahweh onto the
established
tradition of El,
forming
a creative
combination of a
deity who was not
only a god of
deliverance from
slavery
but was also the
creator of the
universe. As the
stories of the two
cultures merged,
the different
terms for God
became somewhat
interchangeable
and are found
throughout
the Hebrew Bible.
In Hebrew, the
name Yahweh is
spelled with
consonants alone
(reading from
right to left)
as יהוה
(yod-hey-vav-hey).
In English, it is
rendered (from
left to right) as
YHWH.
Because the name
has only
consonants in
Hebrew and no
vowels, the exact
pronunciation
is unsure. Today,
it is commonly
pronounced as
Yahweh (YAH-way),
although in prior
centuries Jehovah
was the more
common usage
because German
scholars
transliterated
the Hebrew as
JHVH. (In German,
J sounds like Y
and V sounds like
W.)
The origin and
meaning of the
name is disputed,
but it may be
associated with
the Hebrew
verb
hayah, “to be.”

Transformation begins
within! The world
endeavors to shape
life from the outside
through its customs,
pressures, fears, and
shifting values. God
works from the inside
through His indwelling
Spirit. He does not
merely give us better
information; He renews
our
understanding until we
begin to recognize His
will, perceive His
purpose,
and
respond to life with
the mind and character
of Christ.
This inward renewal
produces an outward
radiance. We were once
darkness,
but
now we are Light in
the Lord! We have not
merely been brought
near to the Light—
we
have become children
native-born to the
Light. Christ, the
Daystar, has arisen
within our hearts. His
Light produces
goodness,
righteousness,
sincerity, spiritual
discernment, and lives
that visibly
demonstrate what is
pleasing to the Lord.
The
command, “Awake, O
sleeper,” is therefore
more than a call to
become conscious
of
surrounding darkness.
It is the Voice of the
Holy Spirit summoning
the Church
to
arise into her
God-given identity.
Christ shines upon us
so that He may also
shine
through us. His Light
exposes darkness, but
it does more than
expose—it reveals
the
pathway into truth,
restoration, freedom,
and life.
This transformation is
never intended to
remain an isolated,
private experience.
The
renewed believer is
joined to a renewed
people. Christ is the
Head, and every
believer is a divinely
supplied member of His
Body. Each person has
been given grace,
ability,
responsibility, and a
place of service. As
every part responds to
Christ
and
functions properly,
the whole Body grows
toward spiritual
maturity and builds
itself up in love.
God
wants us to work
properly in all the
functions of the
Gospel.
This work is not
produced merely by
human organization; it
proceeds from living
union with Christ. We
speak the truth in
love, deal truthfully,
live truthfully, and
grow
together into the
spiritual stature of
the One who is our
Head. Love becomes
the
atmosphere in which
truth is expressed,
gifts are exercised,
relationships
are
strengthened, and
Kingdom purpose is
fulfilled.
The same
Light that renews the
individual also sends
the Church into her
field
of
responsibility. When
we observe the
spiritual pattern of
Jesus sending His
forerunners,
we
understand that every
believer has a place
in the advancing work
of His Kingdom.
We
bear responsibility
for the local work,
the regional work, the
national work, and the
international work of
the Church. These are
not separate
ambitions; they are
widening
circles of one divine
mission!
The
local work gives the
believer a place to
serve faithfully.
The
regional work joins
congregations and
ministries in shared
purpose.
The
national work carries
the testimony of
Christ into the life
and conscience of a
people.
The
international work
reveals that the
Gospel recognizes no
human boundary,
because
Jesus
Christ is Lord over
every tribe, language,
people, and nation.
What delight there is
in this revelation!
We
are not struggling to
create light from
within ourselves.
Christ is already
shining!
We
are not attempting to
manufacture a new
identity.
The
new nature has already
been created in the
image of God!
We
are not disconnected
individuals searching
for significance.
We
are living members of
the Body of
Christ, joined
together and supplied
by Him!
*The Voice of the
Holy Spirit is
therefore calling:
Awake from spiritual
sleep.
Arise from the
limitations of the
former life.
Receive continual
renewal in the spirit
of your mind.
Walk as a child
native-born to the
Light.
Lovingly express the
Truth embodied in
Jesus.
Take your place within
the functioning Body
of Christ.
Carry His Light from
the local field into
the nations.

Ephesians 4:23–24

renewed in the spirit
of your mind [having a
fresh, untarnished
mental and spiritual
attitude], and put on
the new self [the
regenerated and
renewed
nature], created in
God’s image, [godlike]
in the righteousness
and holiness of the
truth
[living in a way that

gratitude for your
salvation].”
To
receive continual
renewal in the spirit
of the mind is to
allow the living
Presence
of
Christ to transform
the inward atmosphere
from which our
thoughts, attitudes,
words, and decisions
arise. This renewal is
not a single emotional
experience,
nor
is it merely the
accumulation of
biblical information.
It is the ongoing work
of
Holy Spirit, cleansing
the mind of former
patterns and bringing
the believer’s
understanding into
harmony with the mind
of Christ.
The
renewed mind no longer
receives its identity
from yesterday’s
failures,
earthly limitations,
wounded memories, or
the confusion of the
world.
It
receives its
understanding from the
indwelling Christ. The
Holy Spirit
continually
lifts the believer’s
thoughts out of
darkness, fear,
condemnation, and
spiritual dullness
and
brings them into the
clarity of divine
truth. Renewal
therefore becomes the
daily
unveiling of the new
creation already
established within us
through our Union with
Christ.

The
renewed mind learns to
see from the position
of redemption rather
than from
the
perspective of defeat.
It perceives
circumstances through
the faithfulness of
God,
interprets adversity
through the victory of
Christ, and responds
to people through
the
love of the Father. As
the mind is
continually renewed,
the believer becomes
increasingly conscious
of who Christ is, what
He has accomplished,
and who
we
have become in Him.
This is not the
renovation of the old
nature; it is the
expression of the new
nature.
God
is not merely
improving the person
we were—He is
revealing the person
created
in
Christ Jesus.
Continual renewal
removes everything
that obscures that
reality,
allowing the
character, wisdom,
peace, and
righteousness of
Christ to become
visible
through our lives.
Ephesians 5:8–10 (AMP)
“For once you were
darkness, but now you
are Light in the Lord;
walk as children
of
Light [live as those
who are native-born to
the Light] (for the
fruit [the effect,
the
result] of the Light
consists in all
goodness and
righteousness and
truth), trying
to
learn [by experience]
what is pleasing to
the Lord [and letting
your lifestyles
be
examples of what is
most acceptable to
Him—your behavior
expressing gratitude
to
God for your
salvation].”
To
be native-born to the
Light means that Light
is now the believer’s
spiritual homeland.
We
were not merely
invited to visit the
Light occasionally;
through the new birth,
we
were born into it.
Light is the realm of
our new citizenship,
the environment of our
spiritual life, and
the nature of the
Christ who dwells
within us.
A
person who is
native-born to a
country naturally
learns its language,
customs, values,
and
manner of life. In the
same way, those born
of God are learning
the language of faith,
the
customs of love, the
values of the Kingdom,
and the ways of
righteousness.
We
are being taught by
the Holy Spirit to
live naturally in the
spiritual environment
into which grace has
brought us.
Colossians 1:13 (AMP)
“For He has rescued us
and has drawn us to
Himself from the
dominion of darkness,
and
has transferred us to
the kingdom of His
beloved Son.”
The
believer does not
stand between two
kingdoms, uncertain of
where he belongs.
God
has already delivered
us from the authority
of darkness and
transferred us
into the Kingdom of
His beloved Son.
Darkness may attempt
to influence our
thinking,
but
it no longer possesses
the covenantal right
to define us.
We
belong to the Kingdom
of Light!
Jesus Christ is not
merely the One who
points toward the
Light—He is the Light.
Therefore, to walk in
the Light is to walk
in conscious
fellowship and living
union
with Him. His truth
illuminates our
understanding. His
life supplies our
strength.
His
Spirit directs our
steps. His love
becomes the atmosphere
in which we relate
to
others.
John 8:12 (AMP)
“Once more Jesus
addressed the crowd.
He said, ‘I am the
Light of the world.
He
who follows Me will
not walk in the
darkness, but will
have the Light of
life.’”
The
Light of Christ is the
Light of Life. It does
more than expose what
is wrong;
it
imparts the life by
which righteousness
can be lived. Divine
Light reveals, heals,
restores, directs, and
transforms. It brings
hidden things into
truth—not to destroy
the
believer with
condemnation, but to
liberate the believer
through grace.
Walking as a child
native-born to the
Light means living
openly before God,
without disguise,
pretense, or fear. It
means allowing His
truth to penetrate
every inward chamber
and His love to govern
every outward
expression.
Where the Light
reigns, deception
loses its hiding
place, bitterness
loses
its
justification, and
fear loses its
authority.
The
fruit of this Light is
goodness,
righteousness, and
truth. Goodness
reveals
the
generous heart of God.
Righteousness
expresses His divine
order.
Truth manifests the
reality of Christ
without hypocrisy or
distortion.
These qualities are
not religious
decorations placed
upon the believer from
the outside;
they are the inward
fruit of the Light
growing and becoming
visible.

“For God, who said,
‘Let light shine out
of darkness,’ is the
One who has shone
in
our hearts to give us
the Light of the
knowledge of the glory
and majesty of God
[clearly revealed] in
the face of Christ.”
The
same God who commanded
light to shine at
creation has spoken
His Light
into our hearts! We
are therefore children
of a new creation. The
Light within us
is
not borrowed from the
world, produced by
human intelligence, or
extinguished
by
adverse circumstances.
It proceeds from the
glory of God revealed
in Jesus Christ.
Receive, therefore,
continual renewal in
the spirit of your
mind. Let the Holy
Spirit
refresh your vision,
cleanse your thoughts,
and restore your
consciousness of
Christ’s
indwelling Presence.
Refuse to interpret
your life through the
shadows of what you
once
were.
You have been born
from above,
transferred into the
Kingdom of the Son,
and
made a dwelling place
for the Light of God.
Walk as one who
belongs in the
Light—as one born of
the Light, taught by
the Light,
sustained by the
Light, and sent forth
to reveal the Light.
Let the Light of Truth
govern your mind, the
Light of Life animate
your being, and the
Light of Holy Spirit
shine through your
daily conduct.
You
are not struggling to
find your way into the
Light. In Christ, you
have been brought
into it. The Light is
now your homeland,
your inheritance, and
your abiding spiritual
atmosphere. Therefore,
arise each day with a
renewed mind and walk
confidently
as
a beloved
child—native-born to
the Light!
This is the joyful
progression of Kingdom
life: renewed minds,
transformed lives,
awakened hearts,
functioning members, a
maturing Church, and
the Light of Jesus
Christ
advancing through His
people!
The
Daystar has risen
within our hearts, and
a new day has dawned—
not
merely around us, but
within us!!

power

efficiency,

when the Holy
Spirit
has come upon
